The Chip is about the size of a grain of rice and is injected between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck. The operation takes less than a second and is relatively painless, (well our boxers didn't flinch) and most dogs go about their normal business immediately. Each chip has a unique identification number and this number is recorded with the Kennel Club Petlog and pet ID's own Database. It is compatible with the pet passport scheme and is also covered by the European Database.
If the unthinkable happens and your pet goes missing, the international network of scanners held by local authority Dog Wardens, Veterinary practices, animal welfare organisations such as the RSPCA and PDSA will identify your pets unique chip number.
The 24 hour database PetLog will be contacted and your pets microchip number will confirm your address, reuniting you and your pet.
